Own an iPad and do a whole lot of traveling on the road? Well, we do know that the iPad (as well as the iPad 2) sports some pretty legendary battery life, but that doesn’t mean it is able to go on forever. No sir, even these magical tablets need some juice once in a while, and this is where the Griffin Powerjolt Micro for iPad comes in. Most of us use the cigarette lighter port in the car for something else, and plugging in a charger is more often than not the main purpose. The same applies for this nifty little gizmo, where it will turn the same cigarette lighter outlet into a more useful USB port, which carries enough voltage to charge your iPad, iPhone and iPod. Oh yeah, before you think that this is some Apple-centric blog, fret not as it can also handle other USB-compatible devices as well. With the Griffin Powerjolt Micro for iPad in your car, you can be sure that you will never have to stop your Angry Birds session simply because your iPad is out of juice – as long...
The YUBE is an augmented reality application for stationary exercise, you’ve seen it before, someone pedaling away on a stationary bike and watching the world seemingly pass by on a TV screen. It uses an iPhone or iPod Touch to synchronize the user’s body motion to travel through an actual video, so you can travel the world without ever leaving the gym. The YUBE plays video (scenic travel or even competitive racing) to the speed of your actual exercise. The iPhone or iPod Touch is attached to your arm (for walking or running) or leg (for biking) and then the application senses your body speed and uses that to control the speed of the video. The faster you go the faster you go through the video. Imagine yourself tearing through the streets of Paris or along the scenic shorelines of Santa Barbara. For me I think it would be better if someone were chasing me, with weapons, or better still if we could have virtual exercise instead, you know, where I could repose on the couch and b...
While I was at ShowStoppers at CTIA Spring 2011, I saw this guy from Gear4. This is PocketLoops, a Portable Music Creation Studio designed for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It is essentially a keyboard with 13 keys with a 30 pin dock that can do instruments like synthesizers, organs, and pianos. As you can see, it turns the iPhone/iPod Touch into a touchscreen controller for all kinds of effects. With a little work, the user can mix and records his or her own tracks, and the user can record his or her backing track. There are also three built-in effects that include Echo, Chorus, and the XY Filter Pad. PocketLoops allows the user to record loops for music. The user can also create beats with a drum kit and groove that includes House, Drum & Bass, Hip Hop, Rock, and Reggae. There is an App that allows the user to send best tracks to and share it with friends via e-mail. This App is free, but the PocketLoops will cost about $69 when it is released sometime in May. You know, I have...
No longer is the superwoman multi-tasker the queen of the kitchen – it might seem as though your kitchen island will soon be controlled by nothing but an iPhone! Yup, the smartphone that has clearly revolutionalized the way we look at how humans interact with phones is not only able to let you enjoy your favorite music on the go, snap great photos and shoot videos, it will now be able to control stuff in your kitchen island. There is a hydraulic scissor lift that is bolted to the cement, where a small frame is also built on top of the scissor lift table. Right on top of that is a subfloor, flooring, followed by the island. Its cabinet doors are located on the other side, where all of them will come with safety push button switches which ensures electricity from the Smart Home Insteon switches are “killed” to prevent any movement whenever the doors are not fully closed. What are some of the other iPhone controlled items that you would love to have in your pad? Sourc...
If you love carrying your iPod with you wherever you go – and by this, we mean just about anywhere, here is the Impervious iPod Speaker Case which would make a pretty good purchase in our books. Capable of protecting just about any-generation iPod from water, dust, and crushing forces without sacrificing on clear audio from its built-in speaker, you will find its polycarbonate construction that is covered with a shock-absorbing rubber shell on all four sides and corners suitable for a rugged lifestyle. The case itself closes using a couple of locking latches which will keep both halves shut and the o-ring sealed tight, so you are able to enjoy a 100% waterproof experience no matter where you go. Of course, we don’t suppose if you go diving with this puppy it is able to hold out on its own at a certain depth, but then again it wasn’t built for such purposes. Powered by a trio of AA batteries, the Impervious iPod Speaker Case can be yours for $49.95. Share ...
Now, we do know that the iPhone has somewhat turned into a pretty decent gaming platform, and has had its fair share of hits along the way. When it comes to racing games, however, the experience of tilting your phone either way to steer your car isn’t a really fun experience, so here is a peripheral that might just help you out. The iPhone 4 Steering Wheel with Speakers that retails for $22.20 is here to save the day – this lightweight peripheral is meant specially for the iPhone 4, where it offers high quality audio regardless of whether you’re gaming or listening to music. All you need to do is connect your iPhone to the steering wheel’s adapter, affix that to the middle of the wheel, and you’re good to go. If only the iPhone 4 will somewhat remain on a horizontal plain no matter which way you turn the steering wheel – now that’d be uber cool. Share ...
Most iPhone are made of metal or plastic or some combination of the two but the Kinetic iPhone Dock is something different- it’s made of wood. It has a bit of a steampunk aesthetic to it. Besides the gorgeous cherry wood construction, what makes this dock unique is it’s rotating gears design which allows it to rotate from portrait to landscape orientation. The dock can be used as both a desk stand and a wall mounted dock (which essentially turns it into a very classy looking Socket Pocket) Right now the project is still in the developmental stage (looking for funding via the Kickstarter link above) but there are plans to make a larger size compatible with the Kindle and for the iPad. Kinetic Wood Gears Rotating iPhone Dock...
